Last Reading of 2012-13: Join ARC for PLAYING THE VICTIM by the Presnyakov Brothers

“The JAPANESE WOMAN WITH A MYSTERIOUS PAST pours some sake for the INSPECTOR, and he drinks…”
Join The Actors Reparatory Company for the third and final instalment of the 2012/2013 Theatre Foreplay Reading Series as they present Playing the Victim by the Presnyakov Brothers.
This mad, dark and very funny Russian ensemble piece follows Valya, a 30-something do-nothing university drop-out who goes to the police seeking a very peculiar job. In a sidelong effort to confront his own death anxiety, he asks to play the victim in police reconstructions of murder scenes. In this absurdist comedy, Russian theatre luminaries Oleg & Vladimir Presnyakov examine the violence and brutality of contemporary life through a veil of cool, sardonic wit – and the blackest humour.
Don’t miss your opportunity to hear a staged reading of this post-soviet gem – never before produced in Canada. And don’t forget about ARC’s production of BEA by Mick Gordon (UK) and directed by Aleksander Lukac coming this May!
